Lost Souls
oil on panel
This was started in plein air on Monhegan Island, which is 10 miles off the coast of Maine from Port Clyde. This part of the island is called Lobster Cove. It is a place that takes the brunt of the ocean waves. There is a rusting shipwreck here called "The Sheridan", that I also did a painting of. I wanted to pay homage to the lives lost at sea and to paint a reminder of how harsh the sea can be to provide a living.
