What I love most when I'm painting my urban subjects is the opportunity to explore interesting compositions using the variety of shapes found in the buildings. Of particular interest in this piece was the vertical metal shaft and how it connected to the apparatus on the roof. The contrast with the sky in that area adds some nice visual interest. This was painted plein air and touched up in the studio.
